"This summer has really surpassed our expectations – we cannot wait to see where the rest of the year will take us"

Auction House has defied the usual summer slowdown in the property market, setting new benchmarks for performance in 2025.

On 19 August, the company hosted its largest-ever weekly national online auction, with 96 lots offered. This event surpassed the previous record of 90 lots set on 29 July, establishing new highs for both the number of properties and total revenue raised.

In August, Auction House’s four weekly national online auctions offered 205 properties, generating £10,811,201 in total. The landmark results have strengthened the company’s performance since the start of 2025. Year to date, Auction House has offered 1,612 lots in national online auctions, raising £76.6 million, a 40% increase in sales compared with the same period in 2024.

High levels of interest

The property that attracted the most attention during the 19 August auction was 115 Longfellow Road in Coventry, a house requiring major renovation. By the end of the sale, 111 bids had been submitted from 11 separate bidders, highlighting the strong demand from developers and renovators.

Growing popularity of auctions

Oliver Prior, national commercial director at Auction House, said, “Our weekly national online auction has gone from strength to strength this year, with the summer producing some truly exceptional results,” he said. “These figures demonstrate the growing popularity of both online events and property auctions as a whole.

“Property auctions offer both speed and security: vital advantages in a market that remains uncertain. Knowing that the sale will go through after the hammer falls gives sellers much-needed confidence. Buyers, on the other hand, are reassured by the transparency of the process and the short timelines between exchange of contracts and completion, which is normally 28 days.

“This summer has really surpassed our expectations – we cannot wait to see where the rest of the year will take us.”
