Rightmove and Propertymark have partnered to offer estate and letting agents new training towards two recognised property agency qualifications, available to all Rightmove members as part of their existing membership.

Training for the Propertymark Qualifications Level 3 Certificate in Property Agency (CiPA) is now accessible through the platform, with separate sales and lettings versions designed to support agents with the training most relevant to their role.

The launch builds on Rightmove's broader investment in education and training, and is designed to help agents strengthen their professional expertise, build trust with home-movers, and prepare for possible regulatory change.

Consumer expectations are already high

The case for formal qualifications is supported by Rightmove's own consumer research. Around half of home-movers surveyed said they would pay more for a qualified agent, and over 70% of renters and homeowners believe agents should hold formal qualifications.

A further 40% already assume that regulation exists, suggesting consumer expectations around professional standards have moved well ahead of the current legal framework.

The new training follows the success of the Level 3 Certificate for Estate and Letting Agents (CELA), first launched on Rightmove in 2022, which has since seen more than 10,500 agents enrol. CELA can also be used to apply for Propertymark membership through both NAEA and ARLA.

Property agency qualifications are gaining traction at a policy level too, featuring in the government's home-moving reform consultation. Agents who pursue formal qualifications now are better placed to meet any future requirements while adding practical knowledge and a recognised credential to their teams.

"Agents are operating in a market where professional standards, regulation and consumer expectations are all moving quickly," said Jason Charles, head of education at Rightmove.

"Qualifications give teams a practical way to evidence their expertise, build trust with home-movers and stand out in conversations with vendors and landlords. By working with Propertymark and making this training available through Rightmove membership, we're helping agents get ahead of potential regulatory change while adding knowledge and confidence to their teams. We've already seen agencies use qualifications as a valuable talking point with home-movers."

A shared ambition for higher standards

Nathan Emerson, chief executive of Propertymark, said access to tailored education sits at the heart of what both organisations are trying to achieve. "Ensuring property professionals have access to a range of tailored and specific educational opportunities is a fundamental ambition both Propertymark and Rightmove believe passionately about," he said.

"With consumers stating that working with a qualified property professional is a key expectation, it will become ever more prudent for the sector to proactively make provision to stay ahead of forthcoming transformation."

"Our own insight tells us qualification and professional representation are highly valued by consumers, and we are pleased to work with Rightmove to enhance current standards and promote additional levels of sector excellence."
