Recognise Bank has joined the Bridging & Development Lenders Association (BDLA) as a lender member, adding a specialist bank to the trade body's membership as short-term property finance continues to attract established banking names alongside specialist lenders.
Recognise provides property lending alongside business and personal savings products. Its bridging range covers residential and commercial property, including buy-to-let portfolios, HMOs, mixed-use and semi-commercial assets, commercial investments, and owner-occupied business premises.
The BDLA is the UK's only trade association dedicated to the bridging and development lending sector. Its membership brings together lenders and associate firms from across the market, including funders, legal firms, valuers, technology providers, and professional services businesses.
"It's a pleasure to welcome Recognise Bank as a Lender Member," said Adam Tyler, chief executive of the BDLA. "Its growing bridging proposition shows how important short-term property finance has become to established banks as well as specialist lenders.
"Recognise brings banking experience, a clear focus on brokers and a strong interest in property lending. That will add depth to our membership and support our work to give the sector a strong and responsible voice."
Luke Watson, director of intermediary sales and lending at Recognise Bank (pictured), pointed to the BDLA membership as a signal of the bank's commitment to the broker market.
"Bridging is an important and growing part of Recognise Bank," Watson said. "Joining the BDLA shows our commitment to the market and to supporting brokers and property professionals with clear decisions and certainty of delivery.
"The Association gives us the chance to work with lenders that share our focus on responsible lending, exchange views on the issues affecting the sector and help maintain the high standards on which its continued growth depends."
