Northern Rock launches new home insurance products

Northern Rock has revitalised its home insurance offering by launching a new product range which is designed to meet the differing needs of customers. The new range has two products – Basics Home Insurance and Plus Home Insurance.

Basics Home Insurance

Basics Home Insurance offers greater choice for customers and provides contents cover of up to £100,000 and standard buildings cover of up to £1 million. There is a single article limit of £1,000 and a total valuables limit of £10,000.

Customers who want personal possessions and pedal cycles cover can add these as options under the Basics product, providing flexible cover based on individual customers’ needs and lifestyles.

Plus Home Insurance

Plus Home Insurance provides comprehensive cover for customers with a range of optional extras. In line with the Basics product, contents cover is provided up to £100,000 and standard buildings cover up to £1 million. Accidental damage cover of up to £100,000 is provided as standard with the Plus product.

Optional extras available include cover for personal possessions, pedal cycles, extended accidental damage and family legal protection. Other product options include home assistance - which provides cover in the event of a household emergency - and cover for the costs of identity theft.   

With Plus Home Insurance, a claim for any one valuable item is limited to £12,000 and £24,000 for any one claim for valuables, while with Basics Home Insurance the claim for one valuable item is limited to £1,000 per claim and £10,000 per claim for valuables.
