"By partnering with Goodlord, we can give our members access to cutting-edge technology that delivers reliable and secure referencing for our members"
- Ben Beadle - NRLA
Goodlord has been appointed as the National Residential Landlords Association’s exclusive tenant referencing partner, in a move that will see the lettings services provider integrate its technology directly into the organisation’s platform.
The NRLA, which represents more than 110,000 members, processes thousands of references each year on behalf of landlords. It will be the first partner to use Goodlord’s newly launched public referencing API, which integrates the company’s tenant checks without requiring landlords to adopt its wider business software.
Through the partnership, members will have access to Goodlord’s PRO referencing service, known as the NRLA full reference. This includes:
anti-money laundering and sanctions checks
politically exposed persons (PEPs) screening
ID verification
Goodlord’s anti-fraud technology enables most references to be completed within 24 hours by connecting directly to data from banks, payroll providers, and HMRC, reducing risk and removing the need for tenants to provide their own documents.
The partnership has been established against a backdrop of new compliance requirements and growing risks of fraud across the private rented sector.
“The NRLA provides a backbone of support across the PRS. They are unwavering champions of the sector and always committed to advancing it for the better,” said William Reeve, chief executive at Goodlord. “We’re therefore very excited to partner with them and, through our newly launched API service, to support the referencing needs for their landlords. This collaboration will bring a huge range of benefits to landlords across the country, driving up compliance and driving down stress at a critical time for the market.”
Ben Beadle, chief executive at the NRLA, stressed the importance of reliable checks. “Landlords need to have the confidence that their tenants have been carefully referenced and vetted, particularly at a time when compliance requirements are becoming more complex and the risk of fraud is on the rise,” he explained. “By partnering with Goodlord, we can give our members access to cutting-edge technology that delivers reliable and secure referencing for our members.”
