In the last three years the Yorkshire has grown significantly as a result of three mergers (Barnsley, Chelsea and Norwich & Peterborough building societies) and the acquisition of Egg mortgage and savings books. Legal & General already provide financial advice in the Yorkshire and Barnsley branded branches and contact centres and this partnership will now be rolled out to the Chelsea branches and contact centre later this year.
Ian Bullock, Sales and Marketing Director at Yorkshire Building Society said:
"As a larger organisation it is important that we continue to review all areas of our business to ensure that the best value and customer service is provided to our members.
"The Yorkshire has committed to continue to offer a full range of financial services to our customers after the Retail Distribution Review is implemented in January 2013 and we believe that working closely with Legal & General will provide us with a strong basis to do this.
"Preparing for RDR is challenging but at a time when other key high street providers are turning their back on providing financial advice to consumers, the Yorkshire and L&G are fully committed to this market and we have worked together to design what we believe is a market-leading proposition. Our members have fed back to us that they want and need a strong investment service and this is exactly what we will continue to provide."
Chris Last, Managing Director - Bank and Building Society Distribution, L&G said:
"We are delighted to extend and grow the strategic partnership we have with the Yorkshire Building Society. We share with the Yorkshire a desire and ambition to take advantage of the opportunities that the Retail Distribution Review brings, and look forward to working with the Society to deliver a range of advised and non-advised products and services for the benefit of their existing and future members."
