"We’re delighted to support The Moorings, which not only brings much-needed new homes to the area but also revitalises a key brownfield site, turning underused land into thriving, energy-efficient family homes"

Shawbrook has completed a multi-million-pound funding facility to support Carmichael Homes in delivering The Moorings, a 40-unit residential development in Falkirk, Scotland.

Situated in the commuter village of Reddingmuirhead, the project will transform a former brownfield industrial site on the banks of the Union Canal into a high-quality, energy-efficient neighbourhood. The development aims to create a place where “everyday living feels just that little bit more special,” according to its creators.

The scheme comprises a mix of three-bedroom terraced, semi-detached, and detached homes, with starting prices ranging from £245,000 to £335,000. Each home is expected to achieve a minimum EPC rating of B, supported by high-grade insulation, sustainable building materials, and EV charging infrastructure. Landscaped green spaces and a focus on community wellbeing are central to the project.

Carmichael Homes approached Shawbrook for a responsive and flexible finance solution. The tailored facility supports the developer’s multi-site operations, providing certainty at every stage of construction and enabling the team to concentrate on delivery.

Douglas Spowart, relationship director, Scotland at Shawbrook, commented, “Carmichael Homes has established an excellent reputation across the central belt of Scotland for delivering high-quality developments with character and community at their core. We’re delighted to support The Moorings, which not only brings much-needed new homes to the area but also revitalises a key brownfield site, turning underused land into thriving, energy-efficient family homes.”

Scott Carmichael, managing director of Carmichael Homes, added, “The Moorings is about creating a community where people can enjoy space, sustainability, and design that stands the test of time. Shawbrook really understood that vision and they listened, tailoring the facility to our needs, and gave us the confidence to focus on delivering homes we’re proud of.”
