Rightmove’s traffic from Twitter and Facebook saw a three-fold year-on-year increase in January and the company predicts this traffic is now on a similar rapid growth curve to that of its highly popular mobile platforms.
Miles Shipside, Rightmove director comments:
“Rightmove have always looked to capitalise on the latest consumer trends to increase the reach of our member agents’ properties. Social media websites are highly influential and they have the potential to play a significant role in the home-hunting process.
"The growing numbers of visitors we are receiving via social media are highly engaged and are delivering enquiries.”
One of Rightmove’s main social media enhancements recently has been the addition of a Facebook ‘Like’ button added to every property listing. The button means that home-hunters can add properties they are interested in to their Facebook page with a single click.
The average Facebook user has 130 friends, meaning online awareness of ‘Liked’ properties, and the agents who handle those properties, can be spread very quickly. The addition has proved highly popular with 15,000 ‘Likes’ recorded in January.
Rightmove also runs a Twitter account with feeds for new listings in certain locations, YouTube channel and Facebook page where home-hunters and agents can interact. Additionally Rightmove recently launched a beta version of Rightmove Places, a new hyperlocal area guide website.
Shipside adds:
“Our investments in these innovations give Rightmove member agents a great extra presence on key social media channels. Our social media strategy is to not only raise our own profile but also that of our member agents and the properties they list with us.
"Innovations such as the ‘Like’ button are already achieving this and delivering those all-important leads”
Rightmove are also introducing a social media section to their latest member agent seminar series which started up again last week.
