Alps has launched a new commercial property emergency policy aimed at supporting SME businesses when unexpected property issues threaten to disrupt trading.
The insurance provider, which develops add-on policies, legal expenses cover and claims solutions for intermediaries, designed the product for owner-operated SMEs trading from premises comparable in scale to a domestic property. These businesses often lack the internal capacity to quickly source reliable contractors, leaving them exposed to operational downtime and financial strain when emergencies arise.
The policy focuses on rapid response and practical support, offering protection across a broad range of incidents commonly faced by smaller commercial premises, including:
boiler breakdown
burst pipes
roof damage
pest infestation
break-ins
vandalism
Cover extends beyond repairs to include call-out charges, labour, parts and materials, giving businesses greater certainty around costs at a time of disruption.
Alps delivers the policy in partnership with Strategic Insurance Services, with underwriting provided by Collinson Insurance. Together, the partners aim to address a gap in the market for smaller firms that fall between domestic and large-scale commercial insurance solutions.
“This new emergency policy complements our existing products for both homeowners and landlords,” said Michelle O’Reilly, managing director at Alps. “It provides SME clients with the flexibility to tailor a package of cover that meets their individual needs."
"It delivers broad cover, flexible underwriting, and a desire to improve access to responsive, cost-effective insurance solutions. SMEs are, after all, the lifeblood of the economy. As with all Alps products, it delivers highly responsive service from a team of experts with a deep understanding of the needs of commercial clients.”
