It turns out that what you see from the window can be the most important aspect of a home, with nearly a quarter saying that they would spend an extra £10,000 just to secure a pleasant view, while one in ten would pay more than £20,000. Two thirds of the 1000 UK respondents to the 247 Blinds survey said that a good view has a positive effect on their mood, and three quarters said that their mood would decrease if they moved somewhere with an undesirable view.

When asked if they would ever be able to live in a home with a bad view, 37% said that this would be impossible.

Jason Peterkin, Director of 247 Blinds said: “It’s amazing to see that views can have such an impact on psychology, with the majority of those we surveyed feeling more positive when they look out of a window to see a lovely scene.

£10,000 is a lot of money to pay just for a view, so it’s clearly a huge aspect when it comes to buying a new home. The fact that a third of people actually passed on buying a properly solely because of the view just reinforces this.”

Respondents were also asked what their dream view would be, with Niagara Falls coming out on top, followed by Land’s End and Central Park.
