The research surveyed over 2,000 UK adults, including private rental tenants, homeowners with mortgages, shared equity stakeholders, owner occupiers and those living rent-free. The results of the survey highlighted issues in the recovery of the housing market as well as consumer confidence.
-77% of UK homeowners believe the value of their home will have stayed the same or increased in value over the next 12 months
-45% of those in the 18-24 year old bracket and 41% of those in the 25-34 year old bracket stated the cost of a deposit was the main barrier to buying a property.
-29% of adults interviewed who have had unsuccessful mortgage applications described unsuccessful attempts at getting a mortgage from a bank before approaching a broker who helped them successfully attain a mortgage.
