Landlords could afford a holiday by saving on letting agent fees

New online rental marketplace HomeRenter has calculated that landlords taking advantage of its free trial service could make enough savings on letting agent fees to afford an additional break this summer.

According to the latest data from HomeLet, the average UK monthly rent in June was £924 - almost 2% higher than at the same time last year.

Therefore, based on a typical high street letting agency management fee of around 12%, the average landlord could be spending in excess of £1,300 each year on letting agent fees.

Following a six-month free trial with HomeRenter, the cost for annual membership with the online marketplace is just £49.99.

Meanwhile, recent research by Asda Money has revealed that the average total cost of a family summer holiday - including flights, accommodation, food, drink and activities - costs £1,212. Therefore, landlords who sign up with HomeRenter could let their properties in no time and have enough cash left over to go on an additional holiday with their family.

HomeRenter's six-month free trial includes 30 days of free advertising on Rightmove and Zoopla, a viewings service, tenant enquiry management and referencing tools, access to digital lease contracts and a To Let board.

Will Handley, CEO and co-founder of HomeRenter, had this to say: "Our offer is open to the full spectrum of rental homes from buy-to-let investments, second homes, through to rooms to let in house-shares by live-in landlords and HMOs.

The trial period has no hidden fees and users are free to cancel at any point. There is also no commitment to upgrade to an annual membership subscription.

What's more, the free portal advertising can be used when it's most needed, so landlords whose properties aren’t yet in ‘tenant find’ mode can ‘bank’ their adverts and use them as required across the six-month period.

Thanks to Section 24 and a raft of tax measures penalising the buy-to-let sector, private landlords are having an incredibly tough time of it in 2018 so we like to think our summer free trial promotion could be a real fillip for landlords looking to take a break from sky-high letting fees."
