Issuing a short statement, the low-cost housebuilder said it would provide more detail on meeting its goal and on other developments on July 11, the day of its scheduled trading update statement.

In April, Gleeson revealed that Graham Prothero, currently chief operating officer of Vistry Group, would become chief executive of the business from January 1 2023. He replaces James Thomson who is stepping down after three years - Thomson will become a non-executive director of Gleeson.

In May, the firm appointed Matthew Gibb to the newly created role of group sustainability manager. Gibb is working closely with internal and external stakeholders at Gleeson to accelerate the implementation of the company’s sustainability priorities, strategy and approach.

The firm has also committed to the government’s building safety pledge as announced in April. This involves housebuilders who have signed the pledge addressing remediation on buildings of above 11m that they have developed stretching back 30 years.

During its half-year ending December 31 2021, Gleeson’s revenue climbed 21.7% to £173.5 million against H1 2020/21, with pre-tax profit improving 21.7% to £24.7 million. Homes sales totalled 932.
