After gaining Employer Provider status in 2017, My Home Move launched its Level 6 Licensed Conveyancer and Level 4 Conveyancing Technician apprenticeships. As part of its accreditation by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), My Home Move can offer in-house training modules to fulfil the apprenticeship requirements for its property industry partners.

Karen Pay, HR Director, commented: “My Home Move has a long history of breaking new ground in employee development within the conveyancing sector, and the modern apprenticeships that we provide takes this a step further. We became the first in the industry to launch such a programme, with the capabilities of providing the training and the experience in-house through our award-winning Learning and Development Academy.”

Through the Academy, we can not only provide apprenticeships to employees, but we also have the scope to expand our training offerings to help other businesses within the property industry with their own training needs.”

Lesley Joyce, Head of Humanities, Care, and Services at SQA, said: “The new Level 6 Licensed Conveyancer, and Level 4 Conveyancing Technician apprenticeships are a great opportunity for people keen to formalise their existing skills and knowledge, and also develop their professional understanding of conveyancing. The new qualifications are based on demonstrating competence in the workplace, so candidates learn while they are working. They can use a variety of different types of evidence – which is generated while they are at work – to document their progress.”

Since the launch of its apprenticeship scheme, My Home Move has welcomed 12 apprentices on to each of the programmes, with a third cohort scheduled for Q3 2018. It also plans to launch a Leadership apprenticeship in Q2 of this year.

The Learning and Development Academy was established in 2013 to provide ongoing training to all of My Home Move’s employees. It was recently approved by the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) to provide the Council for Licensed Conveyancers qualifications, and is an Approved Centre for the provision of Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) qualifications.

My Home Move plans to collaborate with its industry partners to provide training modules on conveyancing, compliance, leadership and customer service.

Karen concluded: “As we celebrate Apprenticeship Week this week, I’d like to thank all of our hardworking apprentices for their enthusiasm and commitment to the programme so far, as well as everyone at My Home Move that has worked hard to make our training Academy one of the best in the industry. I look forward to working with our partners in the future to develop conveyancing skills across the industry.”
