The scheme administrator, mydeposits Jersey, who signed contracts with the States of Jersey on the 17 September have invited landlords and letting agents to join the scheme early from 1 October, and have also announced a series of free workshops in October in the build-up to the go live date.

Eddie Hooker, CEO of mydeposits Jersey commented: “From the 2 November landlords and letting agents will need to lodge their tenant’s deposits with mydeposits Jersey, and the quickest way will be using their online member account. Offering landlords and agents early registration should help familiarise themselves with how our scheme works. Joining mydeposits Jersey is completely free and only takes a matter of minutes on the website.

We are also running a number of free workshops on the 5th and 6th October to walk landlords, letting agents and tenants through deposit protection and answer any questions they have about the legislation and the scheme.”
