Ireland has seen a spike in international students following Brexit, with the highest number of students were recorded at the University College Cork, where applications from non-EU students are up by 40%. There was also a 26% rise at the University College Dublin, while Trinity College Dublin has also recorded significant increases.

A rise in purpose-built student accommodation (PBRS), together with more investment in private halls across Ireland is also fuelling demand for a guarantor service in Ireland.

Jeremy Robinson, Managing Director of Housing Hand comments: “We are expanding into Ireland to meet the demand from both the student halls and international students themselves.

We know there is a growing requirement for a guarantor service in Ireland to cope with the rising numbers of international students. We will be partnering with universities across Ireland, as we have done with UK universities, but with specific offerings to meet the needs of the Irish market.

We will work with Irish universities to create a bespoke model to suit the requirements of both the accommodation departments and their students. Housing Hand and the universities will then actively promote the service to their students and we provide integration, full customer service and credit control support. We help students throughout the rental process and mediate when a tenant has an issue with a tenancy. “
