Questions include asking for the customer’s address, with the hardest question being “how many claims have you had in the last five years?”.

Legal & General has partnered with Landmark who has access to 90% of land surveys in the UK, using over 400 data points available to create a combined view of a customer’s property.

Cheryl Agius, CEO of Legal & General’s General Insurance division, said: “Gone are the endless questions you are asked just to get your home insurance quote: “What year was your property built?” or “What type of locks do you have?”. We want to eliminate the frustration for customers who may have to make a claim only to discover that they hadn’t disclosed the correct information when they originally applied. What used to involve many questions, some of which they may not know the answer to, and take up lots of customer time now happens in minutes and seconds.

We believe SmartQuote will revolutionise the sector and encourage more customers to use this mobile technology to get a home insurance quote in seconds. For our customers, knowing the insurer has got the data on their property they need to provide a quote takes that uncertainty away. Everyone wins.”
