The society confirmed £18 million of applications were seen in February alone, leaving them £2m ahead of their full year target of £190 million.

In its 2015 results released last month, Hinckley & Rugby grew its mortgage advances by 14% to £128 million in the 12 months to the end of November.

Chief Executive, Chris White, said: “It is a Leap Year so there was an extra day in February – and it was a phenomenal month with every working day seeing high levels of demand.

It gives us great confidence as we continue 2016 aiming for a target that is both challenging and achieveable. We continue to grow our mortgage department, to process rising levels of applications, and our business development team that is furthering our work with brokers.”
