Graham Penny Auctions opened in Derby in 2006 and since then has held 59 auctions, offered more than 4,100 lots for sale and secured more than £307m in sales for its clients. In 2014 alone it has sold over £14m worth of properties and secured an 82 per cent success rate and entries are still being accepted for its next property auction catalogue.

Graham Penny, auctioneer at Graham Penny Auctions, commented: “It’s amazing to think that we’re about to reach our 60th Derby auction. Much has changed in the local property market over the past eight years; we’ve seen house prices quickly rise and dramatically fall but was has been consistent is the rise in popularity of selling by auction.

“TV programmes like Homes Under The Hammer have put property auctions into the spotlight and shown that they are a place for securing a great price for a property and the completion process is much more straightforward than with the private treaty market – when the hammer falls the sale is secure and sellers have their money within a month.”

The Graham Penny Auctions Derby team is busy processing entries for the next auction on Thursday 10th July and still has space to include more lots before the catalogue closes next week. Amongst the properties already entered are:

•    30 Kitchener Avenue in Derby – a three bedroomed semi-detached house with Double glazed and centrally heated accommodation, off road parking and with scope for some superficial upgrading and improvement. Guide price: £68,000+

•    2-4 Barroon in Castle Donington – an extensive property where the deeds are understood to go back as far as 1710 when it was originally built as a butchers shop. Guide price: £95,000

•    225-227 Nottingham Road in Somercotes – a pair of semi-detached bungalows occupying a substantial plot currently used as one residential property but having previously been two and could easily be divided again to form two bungalows. Guide price: £100,000+
