The judges said: “Principality has truly demonstrated the difference responsible business practices can make to a business and demonstrated how it can be integrated across an organisation – from board to branch.”

Principality won the award for embedding its values throughout the Society, which shaped its community outreach programme, which includes supporting a range of local sports clubs, volunteering in the community, supporting local schools, its Charity of the Year fundraising and much more.

Julie-Ann Haines, Principality’s Customer Director, said: “We are absolutely delighted to be named as Wales’ responsible large business of the year. Our local communities have always been at the heart of Principality but in the last couple of years we have really expanded our community outreach programme to support even more people. Our employees have raised record amounts of money for our Charity of the Year, we have given up thousands of hours of volunteering time and supported numerous groups with the aim of supporting our communities.

Through embedding our values in the business we have been able to not only build customer and employee satisfaction but also to grow as a business financially. But we know there is still a lot more to do and in the next year we will be aiming to expand our community programme even further.”

The 2015 Business in the Community (BITC) Cymru Responsible Business Awards were held at the Cardiff City Stadium.
The awards are in recognition of companies demonstrating the significant commercial benefits of being a responsible business – while also tackling social, economic and environmental issues faced by society.

Director of BITC Cymru, Rosie Sweetman, said: “The 2015 Awards has been a record year for BITC Cymru and we heard from companies of all sizes and sectors who are achieving commercial success in ways that honour their values and drive real economic, social and environmental impacts in communities across Wales. Responsible business is about how a company makes its money, not simply how it returns a profit.

This was clearly articulated by the Winners of the 2015 Wales Responsible Business Awards.

I congratulate all the companies who have achieved success this year. We look forward to working with the winners, those who were shortlisted and all those who entered and told us their stories as we continue to grow the responsible business network in Wales and demonstrate that business is a force for good."
